Founder's Message

Hi, my name is Ken Johnston, founder of Heart SoundTM Music. I am pleased to share with you my story, why I feel so passionate about Heart Sound™ Music, and our vision for Heartsound™ Music.

I have been a singer/songwriter since the age of 10. Playing mostly for myself and friends, while growing up in Southern California (where the Beach Boys were a way of life). My casual relationship with music continued until after graduating with a degree in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State. I got my first paid professional night on stage at a local club, the night before my registration exams.

The next two years I spent doing what I loved to do, and that was to play music. However, being a club performer wasn't exactly making me rich, and now at the age of 26, I was really beginning to question my future in music. Along with my own "self-doubt", and my well intentioned mother's whispers in my ear, "when are you going to get a REAL job?", I reluctantly did just that. I got a J.O.B.!

I left my life in music for a job and a career in Silicon Valley, in the world of high tech in the late 70's. (There I've now dated myself!)

Long story short, the corporate world was never my cup of tea, in spite of having a great deal of success financially. Simply said, this is not where my heart was. In 1998 I decided, "enough is enough", and made the choice to leave my cushy corporate income, and pursue my passions. With 21 years in business and corporate life now in the bag, I was off to "serve the world".

I had already spent a number of those final years on the "job" asking myself the question "What is my purpose"? After a few years of introspective review I came up with my simple but powerful conclusion, and purpose statement for me.

"To manifest God's abundance in every area of my life, while helping others manifest God's abundance in every area of their lives."

With that intention in mind, the world began to bring the pieces together. In the summer of 1998 I met Les Hewitt, the man who I was soon to become partners with, in a wonderful personal, and business development, coaching program called ACHIEVERS. As President of Achievers USA, I have spent the last 4 years developing the coaching program here in the United States. Look for us at www.achievers.com.

Having worked with business professionals in a corporate setting for 21 years, and now coaching business owners, and top performance individuals in business for the last few years, I now, more than ever, have been witness to the devastating affects of negative self-talk and self-sabotaging beliefs, and conversely the powerful effects of feeding the mind with positive food for thought, and more importantly believing in it.

As I continue my work with Achievers, I am now excited to bring a wonderful tool to feed the mind and heart with food for success in the form of Heart Sound™ Music.
